Troubleshooting LCD monitor power supply pack is easier than the crt monitor power supply. It is small and compact and usually has only one output which is 12 volt and range from 2 ampere to over 4 ampere. Some designed have 18 and 24 volts also. Nowadays most LCD power supplies are build into the main board such as the Dell E151FP LCD Monitor while the older type were separated as power pack module.
The power pack module type is easy to diagnose because you can replace another working unit just to make sure is the power pack that giving problem. You may also use an external dc power supply to power up the LCD to confirm if the power pack is faulty. If you do not have the external dc power supply, you can always use this method to isolate the problem especially the symptoms are no power, low power and power blink. Using the rear light bulb (12 volt) from a car and connect it to the power pack output jack. If it light brightly then the power pack is okay. If it blink or dim the power pack have problem. Why have to use this method to test it? Because, if there are components shorted or leaky at the LCD main board, it will affect the power supply performance.
From experienced, most of the LCD power supply problems whether in the power pack or built into main board were due to the failure of electrolytic capacitors (most probably due to heat) in the primary and secondary section. Most of the capacitors have a high ESR which causes the power supply to produce low output, blink or no power at all. Typical value electrolytic capacitors in the primary side are 47 and 100 micro farad 50 Volt and the secondary sides are 1000 to 2200 micro farad 25 volt. Sometimes you can see the capacitor top casing became bulge and the sleeve that covered the capacitor casing turned into darker color like brownish.
The power section in some of the LCD screen are still using the UC3842 pulse width modulation (pwm) ic. This type of ic is quite easy to find in the market compare to some power ic which is very difficult to get. Samsung 153V LCD monitor is using the TOP247F power ic which is quite easy to troubleshoot if power fail in this model. Some power pack that came in only have minor burnt and after cleaning it and replaced the fuse, it will work as good as the new one.
Troubleshooting LCD power supply is not that difficult provided if you know how a power supply work. If you are unsure of how to troubleshoot power supply, I urge you to read all my power supply articles at the power supply page. I will continue to post more power supplies articles at that page and hope you could drop by more often to check out my website.
Dual Power Supply and its Applications
Power supply refers to electrical or mechanical energy supply. Dual power supply is a particular type of power supply in which the circuits are designed to get multiple types of voltages. There are a number of applications of a dual power supply such as the UPS.
Types of Power Supply
Most power supply systems are designed for converting high voltage AC mains electricity to a low voltage supply. These low voltages are then supplied to electronic circuits and electronic devices. Such systems can be broken into a series of blocks where each block does a particular type of function.
Linear and switching supplies are the two main types of electrical power supplies. While linear supply involves a relatively simple design, it results in low efficiency. A switching supply of the same rating would be more efficient. However, this is a complex design of power supply. Dual power supply is a particular type of switching supply in which the circuits have positive and negative outputs.
The Design of a Dual Power Supply
In some cases, the electronic circuits may require both positive and negative outputs of the power supply as well as zero volts. Such circuits are called dual power supply. They are called so as they work as two ordinary power supplies connected together as one. A dual power supply would have three outputs. For example, a power supply of ±9V would result in output of +9V, 0V and -9V.
Applications of Dual Power Supply
Computer systems are good examples of power supply applications. Linear power supplies were applied to the first generation of computers. However, modern computers are increasingly using switched-mode power supply. This could either be single or double power supply.
One of the uses of a dual power supply is very popularly used. The UPS or Uninterrupted Power Supply, is an integral part of the computer system. The UPS can be external or internal. Even the internal UPS are of two types. The first is a small version of regular external UPS that is fitted inside the computer chassis.
The other type is a reengineered switching system which uses a dual power supply. The input in such a system could be either AC and/or DC. This system also has an AC/DC switching management unit. The common point of these connections is called ‘earth.’
According to a new report from market research firm RNCOS, the Asian surveillance market is expected to help drive the global growth of CCTV over the next several years. The report, “Global CCTV Market Analysis (2008-2012),” predicts that the global CCTV market will grow at a compound annual growth rate of 20 percent beginning in 2010 and reach billion by the end of 2012. Over that same time period, the CCTV market in countries such as India and Malaysia is expected to grow at CAGR of around 30 percent with Asia as a whole accounting for nearly 45 percent of the total CCTV market by the end of 2012.
With this is mind, Witura has introduced the WT-005 Power Supply Distribution Box For CCTV Camera. It is an economical solution to powering an entire 9-camera CCTV surveillance system with a single power supply box.
CCTV power supplies come in a wide assortment. The one needed for any given application is based on the power requirements of the device that needs to be powered. The WT-005 delivers a full 15 amps of DC current, enough to safely power up 9 CCTV cameras or 9 infra-red cameras. Perfect for a compact workplace or home office where you need to run your electronic equipment in a limited space. No need for additional power points and a single extension is sufficient to power nine (9) CCTV’s. This rigorously tested product is durable and features nine (9) power outputs for connecting multiple devices, and each of these voltage outputs provides fully REGULATED 12V DC voltage with 1500ma. Use it to power your electronic devices and keep wires and cables organized and mounted securely.
CCTV camera power supply distribution boxes allow you to easily manage all of the power to your cameras at a central point. This allows your camera installation to be neater. For example, instead of having 8 power supply plugs, plug into power strip/electric surge protector, all of your camera power wires can neatly be run to a power supply box. A power supply box is normally installed near your DVR and is very simple to install.
Each cameras power cable simply screws into the power supply box. The power supply box plugs into a standard power outlet, no hassle whatsoever. There is no need for an electrician to be called in for the installation, hence no additional costs incurred and is certainly not time consuming.
Connecting the WT 005 to a 110V AC or 220 AC – 240 AC power source requires hardwire connection of AC input cable to the WT 005 onboard AC power connector block. DC voltage outputs for each camera connection consists of terminal blocks. In order to connect CCTV cameras or other 12V DC devices to this power supply, a bare power cord from each device must be secured to the output terminals using a screw driver. Installers of this product MUST be sure to follow all instructions and carefully connect all devices using proper +/- polarity.

An uninterruptible power supply for your home or office use
The protection known as back-feed protection in an uninterruptible power supply prevents the risk of getting an electric shock from the electric current that is provided from the out of UPS when the main power is off. When main power fails the connected loads are protected by UPS. The back-feed protection device prevents the current from passing back to the input terminals. This is very important for safety reasons because it enables the engineer to work on the supply side of the UPS without the risk of receiving an electric shock.
When the main power is off a bypass supply known as thyristor that causes short-circuits passes through the input terminals via the faulty component and this is something that needs to be prevented to safeguard engineers and protect loads too.
If you are wondering of how does this wonderful Uninterruptible Power Supply work then let me tell you that basically it is device that provides emergency power source to equipment when the main power cuts off. Also referred as a backup battery, a UPS is technically different from the batteries as its output is AC rather than DC. Normally the main use of a UPS is to give the user enough time for saving the work, in case if main power cuts off.
Some people think that this device is same as a standby generator but it is not so as the former one provides power when the main line is disconnected but this power is available after around 10-15 seconds. This is actually a brief interruption that can even lose the date or some important work.
Best tattoo power supply for your beginner tattoo machine kit
The tattoo machine power supplies are very important during the process of tattooing. You may get some cheap tattoo machine at very low cost and intended to change them when the skills come to the next level. But the tattoo power supply could be a one time investment. So choosing a better quality power supply at affordable price may be the best choice. The Parameters of tattoo machine power supplies are a little abstract for tattoo beginner. Here I list several tattoo power supply and compare the functions, that will be easy to understand.
1. Ordinary cheap tattoo machine power supply
Parameters:
Made of Iron, 1050g, 11cm X 9.8cm X 7.1cm, normal ta2 power supply should be like this. And the important parameters are voltages. Input AC: 110-220V conversion, Output DC: 0-15V conversion, Starting work under 3V. About each.
Comments:
The 110V-220V input Vs are only enough in a safe circuit condition, and could be used in all countries with different home electricity. Better to go with voltage regulators to protect the power supply.
2. Dual tattoo power supply at afford price.
We need not only one machine to finish the whole tattooing, this kind of tattoo machine offers dual output which are produced to comfort tattooists without changing the tattoo machine power supply while changing the tattoo machines.

Uninterruptible Power Supply: Invaluable Device Protecting Computers
Define UPS and its Function
UPS is a device that provides electric power supply to the attached computers or other electronic gadgets during a loss of utility power or when there are outages, sags and surges. Mostly it is used to provide backup power to computers, as for successful operation of the computers it is important to back computer by a UPS. By the sudden loss of utility power computers might end up loosing some important data or damage some component of computers and in order to prevent this, it is vital to protect computers with UPS. Sudden shut down of computers due to power breakup not only can cause data loss but it can also cause damage to the computer component such as processor and motherboard. UPS should not be used as a generator and it should only be used for saving the data and for properly shutting down the computers.
Benefits of UPS
To have the facility of uninterruptible power supply, one need to has an energy storing backup battery, an AC-DC charger and an AC-DC inverter. Today most of the UPS comes with UPS software that works in conjunction with computers to automate data backup and system shutdown procedures in case or power failure when no is there to manually shut down the computer. Another benefits achieved by UPS is that it stops power abnormalities such as power sags, voltage spikes, and surges from reaching the computers and damaging data or other hardware component. It is a fact that 45.3% of data loss occur mostly due to power disturbance.
Types of UPS
Usually there are four types of UPS catering to different power disturbance problems and it is up to the individual choice and requirement that one select a right UPS. The four major types of UPS are:
• Standby or Offline UPS– This type of UPS is mostly found useful for small power spikes and prevent computer from outages. In a standby UPS, a switch is activated and then power is supplied from the battery rather than from the standard line voltage in case of power failure.
• Online UPS- Online UPS is known for providing a much greater level of protection due to its superior power-conditioning capabilities. It offers complete isolation and protection from electrical disturbances by providing conditioned electrical power along with added outage protection. This UPS is the best choice while used for mission-critical applications. There is no delay in backup power in the event of failure of utility power.
• Line Interactive UPS– Line Interactive UPS is online all the time and acts as a battery charger under normal conditions, but switch to battery backup upon power failure.
• Ferroresonant UPS- This UPS uses a ferroresonant transformer as a power buffer for supplying power while the UPS switches to standby power. The energy buffer of the ferroresonant protects equipment which can be affected during the transfer time from the primary to secondary power source.
High Voltage Power Supply ? An Overview
A high voltage power supply is designed to output high voltage energy. The features that are included in the unit will vary from manufacturer to manufacturer and from model to model. Some units are designed for particular uses. Among those uses are lasers, x-rays, other medical equipment, semiconductors, industrial application, and a number of other uses.
There are a number of different features that you will commonly find in a high voltage power supply. Among these features are the sort of energy input that is compatible with the unit, whether the unit is programmable, and the variety of output that the unit can provide.
If you think of the unit in the terms of a cylinder you can easily picture the process that is involved. Some form of energy or potential energy is placed into one end of the cylinder. Within that cylinder the energy is changed and the voltage is regulated at a high rate. The energy then passes out the other end in the designated condition. This is the process involved in all high voltage power supply units.
For the first step in the process, input, there are a number of basic options. Among the most common are electric energy. This can be input in either AC or DC form depending on the unit that you are working with. In addition to standard electricity plugs batteries are also used. These may range from small batteries for some units to large batteries in other cases. Batteries are especially useful when the intention is to maintain a constant energy supply. Batteries are also used in conjunction with electric input from a plug for example. In this way there is a backup in the event that the primary power input is interrupted. Beyond batteries there are alternate fuel sources. These may be in the form of gasoline or other fuels that can somehow be converted into electric energy. The specialized units that perform this function are often called generators. Some models of generators may provide low voltage power instead of high voltage. In some cases solar panels can also be used. These supply electric energy that is converted from light. There are also a variety USB input that is now being used for specific high voltage supplies. These and other innovations represent a new horizon in power supply.
Depending on the specifications of the particular high voltage power supply unit something is done inside the supply unit. Often with high voltage supplies the result is that the voltage of the energy introduced is increased significantly. There is a certain amount of control over the output in many of these units. While some units are designed to only output at a single energy rating some allow the user to select various outputs. In some cases these special units are referred to as selectable output or programmable units. With a classic programmable unit though there is often some amount of computer control over the output. In some cases software can allow a computer to actually program the unit. It may also allow for monitoring of the output via computer. Output selectivity can include selection of a particular voltage range and even selection of alternating or direct current in some models.
Uninterruptible Power Supplies Are Power Backbone for Corporate World
Uninterruptible power supplies or UPS are the magic box of power creation. They have become inevitable in today’s scenario. These are actually batteries put in a box. These batteries are used to produce electricity while they discharge. From DC current AC current is produced, which is used to run the appliances. They can be bought easily from online channels. These online agencies supply them at dirt cheap price. Internet is flooded with information about UPS.
Details about Uninterruptible power supplies
These are of two types namely offline and online, based entirely on the working mode of these instruments. The offline modes are mostly used in homes and the online modes are used in corporate sectors. They are called offline because they are not directly connected to the circuit. Once the current supply is cut off it takes some times for the UPS to start. So, what happens is that all your appliances get closed down unless they are put in auto start mode. But, this closing down can’t be afforded in corporate sectors. Corporate sectors are flooded with important works going on round the clock. Any loss in current supply may put them to hay wire.
Hence by, the online uninterruptible power supplies are used. Here, the UPS are connected in the direct circuit, so they never stop working. During the phase of current supply, the batteries keep on running but, get charged in the process. In case of lack of power supply, the discharging process start and produce DC current, which in turn get converted to AC current and the working start. There are many online agencies that not only will supply you uninterruptible power supplies, but also install them for you and look after all the maintenance services. They will dispose off the run out batteries for you. Will undergo the pain staking process of connecting all the maze of wires to customize and install the UPS and generators for you. They are more than happy to help you to with all the services at times when you are not working, so that your work does not suffer in anyways.
Uninterruptible Power Supplies- For The Homes and Offices
Uninterruptible power supplies or UPS(s) are the equipments, frequently used for production of the electricity. This electricity is produced during the power cuts and surges. The battery is used for the production of electricity from DC to AC. This electricity is then used by the electronic appliances for running them without any hamper, during the power cuts and surges.
Uninterruptible Power Supplies- The Devices
The UPS is very commonly used device of the homes and offices. This device has become the lifeline of the corporate sector. More and more people are depending upon the UPS(s) for their day to day activities. These devices are widely used all over the places. The device has battery back up. It is this battery that is used to produce electricity during the power cuts and surges. Through a MultiCom switch the DC is changed into AC. This AC is used to run the devices in case of power cuts.
Types of Uninterruptible Power Supplies
There are two main types of Uninterruptible Power Supplies in the market. The Offline Uninterruptible Power Supplies is used at homes and the Online Uninterruptible Power Supplies is used at offices. The offline UPS is connected to the parallel lines of the connected appliances. Due to this there is a small gap between the power cuts and the time when UPS will realize the power loss. This gap may be just for a fraction of second, but the attached devices close down during that time. Only the devices which run in auto start mode start again. Hence, the offline UPS is suitable for home use and not office.
Online Uninterruptible Power Supplies
The online UPS is used for the office purposes. The only difference of this online UPS from the offline UPS is the connectivity of the device from the mains. The online UPS is connected to the mains line of the device. Hence, there is no power loss in between the power cut and the power production. This feature of continuous power supply makes the online UPS useful for the corporate world.
You can now buy both the offline and online UPS(s) through the online UPS dealers at discounted prices.
